Village Connects privacy policy

Updated 2 November 2026. Village Connects helps approved village members find local businesses, products and services and contact each other directly.

Information we use

Account information includes your Firebase account identifier, display name, selected village, email address and verification status. Phone sign-in is currently disabled. If enabled in a future approved release, Firebase also processes the phone number used for verification.

Information you choose to submit can include business and service details, product descriptions, quantities, prices, availability, menus, photographs, contact phone and WhatsApp numbers, and a manually entered location or landmark. The app does not track GPS location. We also process membership requests, administrator reviews and reports of inappropriate content.

Who can see it

Current village listings and their shared contact details are available to approved members of the same village, subject to moderation. Administrators manage membership requests and reports. Existing approved legacy business records may remain publicly readable under the existing Firebase rules. Do not place private information in a listing. Contact details and photos are shared with your consent when you submit a listing.

Services and external actions

Google Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore store and process account and application data. Network connections use HTTPS/TLS. Account identifiers and technical request information may be processed by Firebase for service operation and abuse prevention. See Firebase privacy information.

When you choose Call, WhatsApp or Directions, your device opens the relevant external app or service. Their privacy terms apply. Village Connects does not process orders or payments, sell personal information, include advertising SDKs, or use Firebase Analytics in this version.

Storage and your choices

The app stores sign-in state and some application assets/data on your device. Bookmarks are stored locally. You can edit or remove your own listings and ask the team to correct account details or delete your account. Active data is retained while your account or listing is needed to provide the service. Necessary security, fraud-prevention or legally required records may be retained after a deletion request; we will explain any applicable exceptions in our response.
